CLAUDA THE PROVISONER
Details: One of two (though there are more) majour suppliers of general goods in Bridge Town, the Caliborian provisioner and trader Clauda runs a tight ship and doesn't brook fools or haggle lower than 10% below any particular established price. Clauda is gone most of the year on business collecting goods for sale during the other half of the year. She leaves during the summer months, returns during the early autumn. When she is gone, her assistant, Ffian, runs the shop. He is a cousin from another town sent to learn the trade and gain experience as a trader and provisioner. Clauda never had children of her own and spends all her time bogged down with her work. Even when home, she is a hawk and monitors everything, tightly. Ffian is terrified of upsetting her and dogs her heels like a dutiful hound, and will not bargain outside of Clauda's aforementioned standards. The building is short, limestone, and wide. There is a small stables and kennel attached. All goods are sold from sun up to sun set from the wide open window. No one is allowed into the shop. She keeps her strong box with her business finances, including a ledger book, hidden in an oak strongbox she hides under the floorboards of her office. Special orders can be made, but, wait times may be long, and there is no guarantee she'll be able to get it. She does have an uncanny knack for acquiring the right things, however, but flat out refuses to deal in exotic or illegal goods. She is extremely law-abiding, traditional, and supports the community at large. She has no bias toward Lumenorians or Taryŵnishfolk, but she will admit she can't wait until they two are completely absorbed into the country. She wants them to settle and stop fighting. Any animals she sells are from local suppliers. She returns any unsold animals at the end of the day. To get Clauda to sell something, she must find it useful and saleable.
