TEMPLE OF HEALING
Hook: The bath houses of Amálthëaa are common occurrences in Calibor and old Lumenoria wherever there are hot springs or heated water. They are tended to by men and women who monitor the grounds and perform healing rituals and tend gardens where they grow medicinal and kitchen herbs. These buildings are hospitals for the sick and ailing, but, can also be used strictly for relaxation and as short-stay inns. You were directed there to find the healing you need to tend to your wounds and possibly heal from infections you received cleaning skulkers from a part of The Maze in Bridge Town. The place is located in a high rocky sulfur tarn fed by a deep spring on an island in the limestone Hundred-Headed Mountains. Caves nearby contain more springs. White-robed, sandaled priests who tend the squat, marble temple greeted you silently as you arrived by the small boat moored to the tarn's shoreline.
Details: The temple is carved with friezes and bedecked with freestanding sculptures in High Lumenorian style depicting Amálthëaa as the unicorn and healing maiden. The high priestess manages the 8 men and women tending to the grounds (4 each, women in one cell, men in another). Guests can stay in the infirmary/dormitory space for as long as they need, but, it is customary not to exceed a week out of respect and courtesy. Donations are expected after that, but, not demanded. Relations with the priests will continue to worsen, the longer stay is extended. Genuine need is never ignored, but, the priests and priestesses will not indulge hangers on. There are carved oak benches in an open courtyard and throughout the complex where visitors are encouraged to relax and study the garden and beautiful sculptures and mosaics. Giant, ceramic Lumenorian style amphorae rest in polished bronze settings fashioned into unicorn motifs. They contain salts and minerals used in daily healing rituals, as well as rich, dark pmoegranate wines intended to inspire relaxation and healing (they heal hit points and superficial wounds and sicknesses at twice the normal rate if 12 oz. are imbibed daily). A healing pool in the southwestern portion of the complex is used to promote healing, as well. It's fed by the springs and features the unicorn maiden, Amáthëaa, a single twisted horn upon her brow, holding a ewer that pours hot water into the basin. Resting here for an hour promotes natural healing, cutting healing from any diseases or wounds in half, eases any severe permanent ailments for several days for each hour spent in the pool (but, does not cure them) and recovers any hit points twice as fast if naturally restored.
